Detailed Description
Looking for a solution to the black sand problem in dry placer gold? MAG-ZIP rapidly separates magnetite from a continuous flow of dry placer gold concentrates—first—before anything else. It lightens the load by 30–50% in just a few minutes, making the next step smaller, lighter, and faster. The MAG-ZIP now uses weak magnets, which are more selective than strong magnets, helping ensure no trapping of gold. The separated magnetite can be re-run to check for stray particles, and re-runs are even faster.
For best performance, run −12 mesh material. While the unit can be set for −8 mesh, screening to −12 mesh prevents “bird nesting” from twigs/leaves, runs fast and smooth, and is more selective. (Most detrital magnetite is already below 12 mesh; even common lead bird shot is removed by a 12-mesh screen.) Throughput is about 1 gallon per minute. One pass typically removes ~80% of highly pure magnetite; two passes reach ~90–96%. Two quick re-runs ensure purity—all four runs process ~1 gallon in ≤6 minutes. Removing magnetite first divides drywasher concentrates in half, leaving less blond sand and a tighter, easier final cleanup.
