The Founder: Mike Robinson Ph.D.
Mike retired from teaching Chemistry in 2014 from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa TX. He served as Department Chair and as the Ellen and Bill Noel Distinguished Professor for Energy Research. He had over $5 million in research grants and holds several patents. Mike obtained his BS & MS in Chemistry from Louisiana Tech and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from LSU. He had postdoctoral research appointments at Purdue and Tulane before joining UTPB in 1976. He also completed all the leveling courses for an MBA degree. |
Mike also served as a consultant in the mining industry for most of his career and instructed assay labs how to accurately analyze precious metal ores, especially those containing PGMs. Since retiring he has focused on placer mining dry sands in AZ and has invented and co-developed new devices to assist his dry placer mining. He now resides in a home near Stanton AZ. |
